About The Station

Built in 1900, the McAdam Railway Station is a National and Provincial Historic site and a designated Heritage Railway Station. Located on the New Brunswick-Maine border the former Canadian Pacific Railway Station was part of the main Canadian Pacific Railway line into Atlantic Canada.

The Station is operated and managed by the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission. It is an active museum offering tours, catered meals, conference facilities, and much more. The Station is also a Visitor Information Center, located only a few kilometers from the Maine-New Brunswick border crossing at Vanceboro.

McAdam Historical Restoration Commission is committed to preserving and promoting our heritage that has regional and national historical significance through art and cultural experiences.

Our Board of Directors

The McAdam Historical Restoration Commission Inc. (MHRC) is comprised of approximately 25 volunteer directors who represent a variety of interests, businesses, and organizations. These individuals are certainly the foundation of our organization as they bring to us the community at large. As well, directors also serve our organization from the surrounding area; i.e., Fredericton, Harvey, Florenceville, St. Stephen, and St. Andrews.

Elsie Carroll

Upon retiring after 35 years of employment with the Solicitor General’s Department of the Federal Government, joined the Board of Directors of the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission. Has been a member for ten years and is now beginning her third year as Chairperson of the Board. Is also a member of the McAdam Community Action Group, as well as volunteering and assisting with other organizations in the community as needed. Elsie is also responsible for the Artifacts at the McAdam Railway Station and has taken proper training to ensure these items are catalogued and stored properly. For the past ten years, she has spearheaded the “Christmas at the Station” event at the Railway Station, which has been highly successful. Elsie also performs administrative duties as the need arises.

Kerry Little

Kerry Little began her career with her current employer, ARAUCO North America, in 1997. As Corporate Sustainability Manager since 2010, Kerry has a passion for people, the environment, and product stewardship. Kerry served as Chair of the McAdam Community Action Group from 2013 – 2019 which was formed by local citizens to reinvigorate the community and preserve way of life. Kerry was on the Board of Directors for the Green Building Initiative (the GBI), an international non-profit organization dedicated to reducing climate impacts by improving the built environment, from 2015 – 2022 and currently serves as Chair of the GBI’s Building Industry Advisory Council. Kerry joined the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission (MHRC) Board of Directors in 2018 and has filled the role of Vice Chair on the Executive Committee since 2022. She is Chair of the MHRC Marketing Committee and serves on the MHRC Fundraising and Catering Committees.

Growing up in the beautiful Village of McAdam, Kerry has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and can often be found with family and friends snowmobiling, side-by-siding the local trails, boating and kayaking, and enjoying time at the family cottage on Wauklehegan Lake.

Frank M. Carroll

Mr. Carroll has served several years (35) as the Mayor of the Village of McAdam and is a retired teacher/principal (BT, BED). For more than 15 years he has been the volunteer Treasurer of the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission. As a charter member of the McAdam Lions Club he has served for more than 40 years in several capacities. He has applied for, co-ordinated and provided leadership for several Municipal, Provincial and Federal Programs over the past 40 years. All of these programs have been successful and well managed.

Frank Campbell

Retired Business Manager. Experience and expertise in supervising large projects and contracts, contractors, schedules and cost control. An active volunteer throughout his business career. For 21 years Mr. Campbell has served on the Board of Directors for the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission serving in several capacities and providing leadership and supervision to building restoration projects. One of the most popular and successful fund-raising programs offered at the McAdam Railway Station known as “Sunday Railway Pie” was managed by Mr. Campbell for 10 years.

Dorothy Laking

Former Village Councillor (1992-2001), Past-President of the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission, operated the Wauklehegan Lake Campground for 3 years and managed the McAdam Bowling Lanes for 8 years. As an entrepreneur Dorothy has made and sold woodcrafts, (fretwork and intarsia) and provided a photography service, selling both her photos and paintings. For nine years Dorothy served on the Board of Directors for the Wauklehegan Nursing Home and was a Computer Repair Technician. At present Dorothy manages the Craft Shop located at the McAdam Railway Station.
